Jacksonport in Door CountyÂ
Jacksonport is located on HWY 57 between Sturgeon Bay and Baileys Harbor. This community is on the eastern side of Door Peninsula along the Lake Michigan waterfront.
Jacksonport is a good place to visit when you want to spend the day driving some scenic routes along Lake Michigan or to have a meal before or after you visit Cave Point or Whitefish Dunes(check out County Q). the picture to the left is of the beach at Whitefish Dunes.

Jacksonport has the Polar Bear Plunge on New Years Day
There is also a Maifest festival with a parade, music, stands with various goods, food and beer. There are lots of cottages, and a couple little motels with bar and restaurant access. Unlike elsewhere in the county, there is almost nothing in the way of gift shopping here unless you are visiting during the annual art fair, but there is a wonderful bakery that is also a restaurant and antique store all rolled in one and housed in the old town school-house.  It's wonderful (and popular with the locals) so be prepared for it to be busy if you come in on a weekend.  They are only open for breakfast and lunch though so come early. After the bakery closes for the day, that's pretty much it for shopping in Jacksonport. |
