Shopping in Sturgeon Bay - Door County

Historic Sturgeon Bay has the largest variety of stores and shops in the whole peninsula.

There are four major shopping areas in town.

Two of which are on the southern side of the bridge (referred to as the "West-Side" by the locals) and the other two on are on the northern side (referred to as the "East-Side".)

On either side, closer to the highway is where you will find the department stores, grocery stores, trade shops and automotive dealers.

As you get closer to the heart of town, on either side of the canal, is where you will find the gift shops, specialty stores, cafe's and restaurants.

West side: The highway business district exit turns into Green Bay Road, as you travel this road it turns into South Madison Ave. before going over the bridge. There are shops, stores, and restaurants all along this route.

East Side: You can get to these areas by either using the business district exit or staying on the highway and taking either the Michigan Street Exit, (which leads down to 3rd Ave.) or the Egg Harbor Road Exit (which turns into Jefferson Street and then connects to 3rd Ave.) 3rd Ave. This is a one-way street that is considered Sturgeon Bay's downtown. Restaurants, galleries, boutiques and all sorts of shopping can be experienced here.

Jefferson Street: This is an area that throughout the years has been converted from a residential to a commercial district. Nearly all of the boutiques and cafe's are housed in what used to be homes.

Egg Harbor road: Here, you will find: restaurants, a couple small strip-malls, a couple department stores and the last fast food in the county before heading north.
