Located about 7 miles from Gills Rock, off the tip of Door County. You can gain access to the island by a private boat, the car ferry or passenger ferry. There is also an airport on the island. Rock Island Sate Park is about a mile from Washington Island. You can charter get to the park from a boat at Washington Island. Rock Island Park features Potawatomi lighthouse (which was the first lighthouse on Lake Michigan), hiking, biking, and trails as well as camping. Visit for the day or choose to stay longer.
