Door County's Largest City.

Besides the large variety of lodging, dining, shopping, galleries and museums, there are more parks and festivals in and around Sturgeon Bay than any other in the peninsula.

Known throughout the world for its commercial shipbuilding, Sturgeon Bay is also considered to have some of the best bass fishing in the midwest. It is proud to host a Bass Tournament that attracts anglers from all over the United States.

AHNAPEE TRAIL STATE TRAIL

Located between Algoma and Sturgeon Bay.
 
SIZE: 144 acres, 12 miles long
 
The Ahnapee trail used to be an old railroad bed.

Now, its crushed stone surface is a great platform for your personal exploration.

The Ahnapee Trail has water access to the Ahnapee River and Stony Creek

FRANKE PARK

This park is located in the township of Clay Banks.

SIZE: 6 acres
 
The park is maintained as a natural area, it has no restrooms but it is handicap accessible.

Franke Park features a mile long walkway through the marshy woods.


ROBERT LASALLE PARK

This park is located in the township of Clay Banks 11 miles south of Sturgeon Bay off CTY U.
 
SIZE: 8 acres

Robert LaSalle Park has a pebble beach on Lake Michigan, a flat grassy field, a small stream, and a natural amphitheater.

It is said that the French explorer Robert LaSalle landed at this spot in 1679.


STURGEON BAY CANAL PARK BEACH

Take CTY U to Lake Ln. and drive to the end, turn left.
 
SIZE: 20 acres

Sturgeon Bay Canal Park Beach at sunrise.By walking on the beach you can see the canal entrance and the Coast Guard station's Lighthouse.

This park's sandy shores and beautiful sunrises make it a very special Lake Michigan hideaway.

 


POTAWATOMI STATE PARK

A view from the tower.Potawatomi Park is located in the township of Nasewaupee. The entrance is at 3740 Park Dr.
 
SIZE: 1200 acres
 
This park was created in 1928 on an old limestone quarry that the government used to use to build break walls.

The Government Bluff Quarry operated from 1835 until 1885.

One of the great attractions of this park is the 75 foot wooden observation tower that stands atop a 150 foot bluff. If you aren't afraid of heights and can climb stairs, you should really check this out!

There is a small ski hill and ,13 miles of cross country ski trails.

 
BAY VIEW PARK

Bay view Park is located at Madison Ave. and Strawberry Lane.

While sitting at this picturesque park you can gaze at the shipyards across the bay.


CHERRY BLOSSOM PARK

GARLAND PARK

JOHNSON MILES COUNTY PARK

Available for special events.

In the summer, there are stock car races held every Saturday evening.

Every August the Annual Door County Fair is hosted here.

This park has 3 full size soccer fields.


LAWRENCE BIG HILL PARK

Located at the top of the hill at N. 9th Ave.
 
SIZE: 10 acre
 
The Sturgeon Bay East Side water tower is located on top of this hill among the trees. Enjoy the vita course and walking trails under the shade of old trees.
 

MARTIN PARK

This park is located next to the Fred J. Peterson Memorial Pool on S. third Ave.

There is a picnic table and playground equipment.

SIZE: 600 acre
 
Sunset Park is one of the more popular parks in the county.

A lot of local events take place here, not the least of which is a great sunset.

Located next to the shipyard, you can practically stand underneath one of the largest operating cranes in the world.

There is also a duck pond, a frisbee golf course, and of course, plenty of space to play games.

SAWYER PARK

Sawyer Park is the staging ground for the annual Bass Tournament.

 

OTUMBA PARK

Otumba Park is a nice place with a good playground and sandy beach.


OLDE QUARRY PARK

The Park is located in the township of Sevastopol about 5 miles north of Sturgeon bay while traveling up Bay Shore Dr.
 
SIZE: 9 acres
 
The county used to quarry some of its limestone for building from this site.The rock was loaded onto barges and shipped out.

Now there are picnic tables and plenty of comfortable room to watch the sunset.

This is a great place to go shore fishing. The boat launch has 2 lanes.

PORTAGE PARK

Portage Park has a great sandy beach that is one of Door County's best kept secrets.

 

 


LILY BAY COUNTY PARK

This Park is bordered by private property and serves as a Lake Michigan Access.
