Door Peninsula, County Parks and Beaches
There are numerous County parks speckled throughout the peninsula.
This list of parks is organized by the geographical sections they are located in. The icons on the right side of the screen indicate the location and load a map of that section when clicked.
Here are a couple of things to keep in mind while you explore the natural beauty.

County Parks are open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Camping and overnight parking is prohibited.

Dogs must be on a leash.

There aren't lifeguards, so, swim at your own risk.
AHNAPEE STATE TRAIL COUNTY PARK






Located between Algoma and Sturgeon Bay.
SIZE: 144 acres, 12 miles long
The Ahnapee trail used to be an old railroad bed.
Now, it has a crushed stone surface as a platform for your personal exploration.
The Ahnapee Trail has water access to the Ahnapee River and Stony Creek
FORESTVILLE DAM PARK




Located in the town of Forestville.
SIZE: 79 acres
This park has access to both the Ahnapee trail and the Ahnapee River.
There are multiple forms of waterfowl in this area.
This pond was created in the 1800's when a dam was built to power a gristmill. There is still evidence of the dam.
This popular fishing spot has a launch for canoes and other small craft.
TORNADO NATIONAL PARK




Located in the township of Gardner.
SIZE: 3 acres
In 1871 the town of Williamsonville suffered a devastating fire that killed 128 people.
In 1927, Tornado Park was founded to commemorate the former town.
The name Tornado comes from the fact that the fire was so intense that it created a tornado of flames.
This is a state highway wayside.
CHAUDOIR'S DOCK PARK




Located in the township of Union.
SIZE: 5 acres
Chaudoir's Dock Park is on Green Bay and has a breakwater and dock that protects the boat launch.
This is a great place to go fishing.
SUGAR CREEK PARK



This park is located in the township of Gardner.
SIZE: 40 acres
Sugar Creek Park is a largely undeveloped area.
When they are running, this is one of the better places to catch smelt .
ROBERT LASALLE PARK




This park is located in the township of Clay Banks 11 miles south of Sturgeon Bay off CTY U.
SIZE: 8 acres
Robert LaSalle Park has a pebble beach on Lake Michigan, a flat grassy field, a small stream, and a natural amphitheater.
It is said that the French explorer Robert LaSalle landed at this spot in 1679.
JOHNSON MILES COUNTY PARK





Available for special events.
In the summer, there are stock car races held every Saturday evening. Every August the Annual Door County Fair is hosted at this location in Sturgeon Bay.
This park has 3 full size soccer fields.
OLDE QUARRY PARK



The Park is located in the township of Sevastopol about 5 miles north of Sturgeon Bay while traveling up Bay Shore Dr.
SIZE: 9 acres
The county used to quarry some of its limestone for building from this site. The rock was loaded onto barges and shipped out.
Now there are picnic tables and plenty of comfortable room to watch the sunset. This is a great place to go shore fishing.



The boat launch has 2 lanes.
FRANK E. MURPHY PARK








Located in the township of Egg Harbor on CTY G.
SIZE: 10 acres
Nice sand beach.
There is a large cement dock that you can to tie a boat to and also fish from.
LILY BAY COUNTY PARK



Located in the township of Sturgeon Bay off CTY T on E. Shore road.
SIZE: 2 acres
This Park is bordered by private property and serves as a Lake Michigan Access.
CAVE POINT PARK





Nestled in Whitefish Dunes State Park, Cave Point is also on CTY WD.
SIZE: 19 acres
This Park is adjacent to the Whitefish Dunes, it offers one of the best views of the Door County sunrise.
Take time out and have a picnic.



MERIDIAN PARK



Located in the township of Jacksonport, this wayside is located on HWY 57.
SIZE: 92 acres
This park has the distinction of being located on the 45th parallel, which is half way between the North Pole and the equator.
With the exception of an old logging road that has been converted into a snowmobile trail, the park has remained largely undeveloped.
BAILEYS HARBOR RIDGES PARK



Located in the township of Baileys Harbor off Ridges Rd.
SIZE: 30 acres
The wildlife sanctuary at Baileys Harbor has been in operation since 1934 and aids in the preservation of some of the rarest wildlife in Wisconsin.
This same area was a used for range lights, which helped sailors navigate into the harbor, until 1969.
ELLISON BLUFF PARK


This park is located in the township of Liberty Grove.
Hillside Drive leads to the park from Hwy 42 before you enter Ellison
Bay.
SIZE: 88 acres
This is really an incredible place. Enjoy an amazing view from this park located atop a hundred foot bluff.


DOOR COUNTY HEADLANDS SANCTUARY or DOOR BLUFF


Located in the township of Liberty Grove, take Cedar Rd. out of Ellison Bay to Garret Bay Rd., turn left on East Door Bluff Rd., then turn at the first right.
SIZE: 155 acres
This Park is maintained in its natural state.
The limestone bluffs rise high above the water and you can walk along them on many of the trails.
It is said that the mainland Potawatomi Indians fought the Iroquois Indians of Washington Island at this historical site.
JACKSON HARBOR RIDGES
This is a Wisconsin State Scientific Area.
The area has examples of beach, dune, boreal, and shore meadow landscapes. This is one of Washington Island's great treasures.
PERCY JOHNSON MEMORIAL PARK
Located on Washington Island.
